Training and qualifications

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and a Certificate in Counselling. I trained at the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter.

I have also trained in Somatic Trauma Therapy. This is a safe, integrated approach to working with trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, based on recent brain research.

If you want to know further details about any of these please contact me.

Accreditation: I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I have reached a certain level of competence and experience.

I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Professional experience

I have been practising as a counsellor since 2008 and have worked for many different counselling services in Devon and Hertfordshire. As well as seeing clients privately, I have worked as a counsellor in GP surgeries and for various agencies, including mental health charities and the Children’s Society.

Prior to this I worked in Mental Health, supporting individuals and running therapeutic groups.

I also worked supporting young people in Care and have a previous background in Community Arts.

I am experienced in counselling both adults and young people and offer short and longer-term counselling.

Personal experience

My interest in therapeutic work originates from having experienced the transformational process of counselling myself. I also have personal experience of how powerful and effective it can be to work creatively, as well as outside in Nature.

I am committed to my own ongoing self-awareness and professional development.

My particular therapeutic approach

Creative and Holistic: I believe it is important to work holistically - giving you the opportunity to explore your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects, as you choose.

My experience is that counselling is often most effective when we engage both the creative and the rational sides of the brain, as well as the 'felt sense' of our bodies.
